Helping You Move, Balance, and Live with Confidence
Neurological conditions and balance disorders can affect nearly every aspect of daily life, from walking across a room and climbing stairs to driving, working, exercising, and enjoying time with family.
At Granite State Physical Therapy, our experienced clinicians provide personalized neurological rehabilitation and vestibular therapy to help patients improve mobility, restore function, reduce symptoms, and regain independence. We work with individuals recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, vertigo, dizziness, and other neurological conditions.
With convenient clinic locations in Concord, Gilford, Hooksett, and Plymouth, we help patients throughout New Hampshire and beyond receive specialized care close to home.
Conditions We Treat
Vertigo, Dizziness & Vestibular Disorders
Have you ever felt dizzy, unsteady, or like the room was spinning?
These symptoms are often related to dysfunction of the vestibular system, the structures in the inner ear and brain responsible for balance, spatial awareness, and coordination.
Symptoms may include vertigo or spinning sensations, dizziness or lightheadedness, loss of balance, motion sensitivity, blurred or bouncing vision, nausea with movement, difficulty concentrating, or feeling unsteady while walking.
Common vestibular conditions include:
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
- Vestibular neuritis
- Labyrinthitis
- MĂ©nière’s disease
- Post-concussion dizziness
- Vestibular migraines
- Age-related balance disorders
Our vestibular rehabilitation specialists use evidence-based techniques such as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT), gaze stabilization exercises, habituation exercises, balance and fall prevention training, and walking and mobility training.
Many patients experience significant improvement in symptoms and confidence after receiving the proper diagnosis and treatment.
Stroke Rehabilitation
A stroke can affect strength, balance, coordination, walking ability, sensation, and overall independence. Physical therapy plays an essential role in recovery by helping patients relearn movement patterns, improve mobility, and regain confidence in daily activities.
Our stroke rehabilitation programs may include walking and gait training, balance and fall prevention, strengthening weakened muscles, transfer and mobility training, endurance and conditioning, and functional movement practice. Treatment is also designed to support greater independence with daily activities.
Every treatment plan is customized to each patient’s goals, abilities, and stage of recovery.
Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s disease can affect walking speed, balance, mobility, posture, and coordination, and may also cause stiffness, rigidity, shuffling gait, and an increased risk of falls.
Physical therapy can help individuals maintain mobility, improve movement quality, and stay active longer. Treatment may include balance and gait training, postural exercises, functional movement practice, strength and flexibility exercises, fall prevention strategies, and a personalized home exercise program.
Our goal is to help patients remain independent and continue participating in the activities they enjoy.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Multiple sclerosis can affect balance, strength, coordination, endurance, and mobility. Physical therapy can help manage symptoms and improve function through balance and coordination training, strengthening, walking and mobility exercises, flexibility work, energy conservation techniques, and fall prevention education.
Treatment plans are individualized to address each patient’s unique symptoms and goals.
Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Traumatic brain injuries and other neurological injuries can create challenges with balance, coordination, mobility, endurance, and functional movement. These injuries may result from falls, accidents, workplace incidents, or other trauma.
Physical therapy can help improve balance and stability, walking ability, coordination, strength and endurance, functional mobility, and overall safety and independence. For patients recovering from a work-related brain injury, rehabilitation may also focus on building the physical abilities and activity tolerance needed to safely return to job responsibilities.
Our therapists work closely with patients and families to support recovery and maximize long-term function.
Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
Spinal cord injuries can affect movement, sensation, strength, balance, and independence.
Physical therapy focuses on helping individuals achieve their highest level of functional mobility through strength and conditioning, transfer training, balance activities, walking and mobility training when appropriate, adaptive movement strategies, and fall prevention and safety education.
Treatment is tailored to each person’s specific diagnosis, goals, and abilities.
